We do not use "color fill" to put different colors into the engravings. Color fill is enamel paint or lacquer which wears off over time. We engrave through the top layer into the brass base metal. This makes the engravings permanent & appear gold in color giving a nice contrast. With brushed chrome, satin chrome, and street chrome finishes, we will generally oxidize the brass engraving to turn it black against the chrome. This is not "color fill"and does not wear off. High polish chrome is a very hard coating and we generally etch the surface of the chrome to produce the engravings.
